« Ismène » is a personal conception of the playwright based on the inspiration of « Antigone » by Sophocles. It is an attempt to give reason to an unjust form of tragedy that narrates its own version of things in front of the audience through a unique aesthetic dramaturgical monologue.

Carole Fréchette was born in 1949 in Montreal, Québec, Canada. She is a widely celebrated dramatist, winning numerous prizes including the Governor General’s Award. She is the author of over 25 plays, many translated in over twenty languages.
